Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled lawyer to join our fast growing and exciting legal team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the law, excellent analytical skills, an entrepreneurial flair and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. This role involves providing legal advice, representing clients in various legal matters, and ensuring
compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy.
  • Draft legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and motions with precision and accuracy.
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations through continuous education.
  • Collaborate with other legal professionals to develop case strategies and share insights.
  • Utilize legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis to gather necessary information for cases.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide clear guidance.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
  • Minimum 5 years practicing in the area of Family Law.
  • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent research and writing abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preference will be given to candidates with an established book of business.

***Pay: Starting $125,000.00 per year (This position is structured on a fee-split basis, offering flexibility and strong earning potential based on your performance)***

The successful candidate will be supported with a strong marketing and client-acquisition plan.

  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlementn agreements with precision and clarity.
  • Develop case strategies through effective negotiation and advocacy to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
  • Analyze case facts, prepare litigation plans, and manage all phases of the litigation process from inception to resolution.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their objectives and provide sound legal advice tailored to their needs.
  • Maintain meticulous records of case files, correspondence, and court documents while ensuring compliance with deadlines and procedural
    requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Valid license to practice law in Alberta.
  • Good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
  • Minimum 3 years experience practicing law in a civil litigation practice area.
  • Proven experience in litigation with a strong understanding of civil procedure and courtroom procedures.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
  • Strong research capabilities coupled with exceptional writing skills for drafting clear and persuasive legal documents.
  • Demonstrated expertise in legal drafting, analysis, and strategic planning.
